Project Seven for Soldiers

Project Seven for Soldiers was the foundation’s inaugural event during which Matt Dawson (“Dawson”) set eight world records from May 2021 to May 2022. Dawson successfully completed 100% of the expeditions undertaken on all seven continents. Activities included summitting the highest mountain peak on each continent; skiing to the South Pole; trekking solo and unsupported across the Mojave Desert and Death Valley; and rowing the Atlantic Ocean. Two additional expeditions, skiing to the North Pole and circumnavigating the globe in an airplane, were postponed due to war in Europe.

In May 2024, Dawson set his ninth world record (recognized as a Guinness World Record) for the fastest ever crossing of the Mojave Desert on foot. This 329 mile crossing was completed solo and unsupported.

100% of net proceeds from Project Seven for Soldiers benefitted the Gary Sinise Foundation and Hope For The Warriors with their provision of comprehensive support in meeting the critical needs of military veterans and their families in their transition from military service to civilian life.

Meet Dawson

Through his global expeditions, Dawson strives to exemplify his personal mottos of “Strength In Surrender” and “Earn. Give. Live. Your Life”. Life is not about what others think of us, public accolades, or material possessions, but rather how much we can facilitate personal growth and contribute to others. Our lives are about more than ourselves. The greater our abilities and capacity the more we can help to elevate others. All of us matter, but none of us are important.

Dawson believes our most authentic lives are lived and true selves revealed in the “margins”. How we perform at our lowest, most challenging moments best exemplifies our character.

Seeking to transition his life from self-centered to service-centered, Dawson used his lifelong passion for personal exploration and self-development to form the basis of Dawson’s Peak Foundation.
